I feel very useless, fed up and exhausted and it’s horrible. It’s one of the days that I have often unfortunately and I feel like accomplishing something is so very far away and I’ll give up at whatever I do and probable just fail, which to me feels like it happens all the time and unfortunately I feel very sad. I just wish I was different, someone else who was happy with so much motivation, who is cheery and bubbly and selfless who clicks with everyone and is unbelievably gorgeous and with so much intelligence.
It’s not a nice feeling to feel sad especially if there isn’t a reason.
Hello everyone! I hope you’re doing splendidly today,
First off, I am in NO way saying that you need to lose weight or change who you are, you are perfect inside and out but eating health food and exercising regularly is amazing for your mental and physical health and it can really help you. I am not a nutritionist or a medical professional, so if you need professional advice please seek out those who are there to help you. They can advice on what is best for you. However, I am always here if you need any help. Right, onto the post!
Healthy eating can be an absolute bugger! I’ve recently gotten into a health kick including regular exercise and healthy food. I thought today I would talk about healthy eating and then maybe do another post about exercise. I’m writing about my tips on having a healthier diet.
A few years ago I used to be really healthy, I didn’t eat crisps, fast food and only treated myself every week. Unfortunately, that all went down hill when I suffered with a few problems (I won’t bore you with them) and I stopped exercising and I didn’t care about what I was shoving it my gob, I just ate. Recently, I’ve decided to try getting back into an exercising routine and eating healthier and here are some of the things I’ve learnt along the way!
YouTube, Google, Instagram even Facebook are great ways to find healthy recipes, alternatives to ‘not-so-healthy’ food! I use it constantly. I’ve found great recipes and they have so many different types, if you eat meat, vegetarian like myself or vegan, there are so many different things you can do. For example, sweet potato fries with vegetables and if you’re an avid meat eater, add chicken or ham whatever you want. I intend to post some recipes so keep an eye out! Another thing, sometimes depending on the person it’s best to not count calories. I eat intuitively and this helps, if I’m full I stop eating but if I’m hungry I eat but good food, then I treat myself once a week. Try both if you want but counting calories can get boring and it might effect how you think about food.
Some recipes may need to be altered to suit your needs for example, removing the meat and adding something different or removing an ingredient because you are intolerant or allergic. My advice would be to find some good alternatives that you like and then try the recipes with the different foods! It’s a good way to discover new foods and have fun in the kitchen! For example, I made protein pancakes the other day and I had to change the recipe a little just to make the right consistency and they tasted amazing!!
Sometimes prepping your meals is a great thing to do because if you have a very busy lifestyle or tend to snack or when it comes to dinner time and you just don’t know what to have, having something thats lovely to just heat up can make it so much easier. Spend and afternoon, just a few hours making these foods and you’ll be set for most of the week. Make a plan of what you want and stick to it. Meal prepping can be really helpful!
This can be very difficult when trying to eat healthy food. Try and enjoy what you eat out but maybe change things a little. For example, if you like a good burger swap the fries for a salad. It can make it a bit healthier and you can have that burger you’ve been craving. Or if you order a salad, ask for the dressing on the side. It can be quite simple.
Trying new things!
It can be hard to try new foods but you can discover so many things that go with so many other things. Give it a go because it might surprise you! On a side not, research what might be best for you and this moves into another thing to help you, don’t restrict yourself of everything that’s not too healthy that you’re eating, this will just make you crave the food even more and you might just eat it one day, lots of it. I’ve done this before and it can be very upsetting, so if you’re just starting out, reduce it but don’t completely take it away. For example, if you eat chocolate every day maybe start out just eating it every two days, then the next week every three days and so on and so forth. It’s best to have a balance and eat things in moderation, please don’t be unhappy with the food you eat because that won’t help. You need to love and enjoy having food, it’s a process but you will feel good when you eat whole and healthy foods with a lovely treat when you feel like it!
I hope this helps,
I ADORE Mac Lipsticks! They are my ‘holy grail’, most reached for, love-able, amazing lipsticks. I’m sure you can tell I love them so much. If anyone asked for a recommendation of a high end lipstick, Mac would be my first and only thought. They are a bit pricey at £15.50 each but I think they are worth every single penny because they can just stay all day, I’ve been out to dinner before and it has stayed through two courses and so many glasses of water.
I think it can be hard for some people venturing into expensive makeup products, it was for me and I still find it hard, because you don’t want to spend so much money on something and then it turns out to be unbelievably rubbish. With lipsticks, there are so many different colours making it so difficult to choose, hence the endless research on YouTube and the internet to find one single person who has the same skin tone as you. I will say that with Mac lipsticks can look different depending on the colour of your lips and skin tone, but that probably applies with all lipsticks.
Mac lipsticks smell amazing! That’s my first point, they smell so lovely. Some lipsticks can have a bit of a horrible smell and it can turn me off of them but they smell divine! They are so creamy and buttery, well that depends on the type because the matte ones can be drying but stay for ages. Mac sell 8 different textures, ‘Matte’, ‘Frost’, ‘Retro Matte’, ‘Satin’, ‘Lustre’, ‘Amplified’, ‘Cremesheen’ and ‘Glaze’.
I own 9 different shades (out of 179 shades that they sell) and my favourite is definitely Vegas Volt and it is an ‘Amplified’. I love it; it looks so gorgeous on fair skin. The great thing about the lipsticks is that on the bottom it says the shade and the texture.
I hope this helps,
I love contouring! I think it really adds to a look and can be used with a full glam look and even a natural one. I use it all the time but in the past it has been very difficult to find the perfect shade because they tend to be too dark or too warm on my very fair skin therefore making contouring something that I’ve found very hard to get along with. So this post is formed from my extremely ‘difficult time’ finding the perfect contouring products! And… I think I’ve found it!! Well, a drugstore one.
The product is the ‘Ultra Sculpt and Contour Kit Ultra Fair’ by Makeup Revolution. It has three shades, a bronzing/contouring shade, a blush shade and a highlighting shade. It retails for £3.50 at Superdrug or you can purchase it from the Makeup Revolution website and I purchased it about a week ago and I already feel that it is worth every penny! I’ve found that a little goes a long way with this product and it is so blend-able and is matte so it is so easy to use. The shade isn’t too warm for fair skin, it’s just right actually and I use the Real Techniques Contouring brush which helps the product go on really smoothly. The blush creates a lovely combination with the contour shade and is really light so adds a nice colour to the cheeks and face with a nice glitter sheen. The highlight can really add to the look with its light sheen and is reflective of the light making it so flattering on the high points of the cheekbones.
I love this product; it’s so affordable and definitely worth a try especially if you have a fair skin it works really well. Just make sure you don’t apply a lot on your brush or a lot of the product will go on your face and you have to really blend it out. Start small and then build it up as you go. You can use one shade from the palette without the others if you don’t have enough time or you don’t want a full face of makeup.
I hope this helps and you give it a go,
It’s so difficult to have confidence and to believe in yourself. I’ve had conversations with other people where I talk about how lovely, beautiful, smart and amazing someone is (because they are) and they will say why can’t you say that about yourself? My answer will be because I’m not like that. I will admit I still don’t believe in myself but I’ve been doing things (because of many other problems in my life that I won’t bore you entirely with) that have helped a little with my confidence and how I feel about myself.
In the past month I’ve started to take a lot of photos with my boyfriend and family because we’ve been away and I really want to have some nice pictures with them. I tend to despise photos, I always find things I hate about myself and I’m sure so many, men and women alike do this too! So my advice to you is to find things you LIKE instead of HATE. I found this really hard at first but it can be something simple like your hair colour, the outfit you’re wearing, the lipstick that’s your favourite colour or one you want to wear more! It really helps, because if you do it enough times, it becomes an impulsive thing and you will notice a lot more good than bad. But remember to take photos, I find it’s good to take photos with someone you like/love and say something as you take it that makes you both laugh. This results in a completely genuine smile and I think it’ll make you love the photo so much more.
Another thing that helps an unbelievable amount is clothing! Wearing something that you love and feel so faltering in, whether it is a lovely, stunning top that’s so flattering on the waist or even your favourite pair of jeans where your legs look amazing! It doesn’t matter. If you think you look amazing (I’m very sure you do) then you are bound to feel it and that’s what’s so important!
Exercise!! Exercise really helps with confidence. I’m not saying you need to lose weight or get fitter but it can realise endorphins which lift your mood and can make you feel amazing, inside and out!!! It is always a positive if you get a little toned on the way! This can add to building your confidence. Even if it is a small amount of exercise like a short walk, it’s still something. Exercise helps your physical and mental well-being!
Thinking positively. I know this can be the hardest thing in the world to do. Your mind can constantly see the negative side of things, this could be because of past experience or you can find it hard to see the positives. I completely understand, when you’re not in the best mind frame this can happen, it can seems to happen automatically. My advice would be to write down those negatives thoughts, every single one of them. Then think about something positive, it can be absolutely anything! For example, I’ve recently joined a gym which opens this week and I was so nervous, anxious and scared to go. I kept thinking of the negatives. I thought of every negative there was like ‘I’ll be judged because I’m not fit enough’ or ‘I’ll never be fitter, I will always stay like this’ and ‘I won’t lose any weight and be healthy’. Then I thought of the positives, which was a really hard process. ‘It releases endorphins which will help my mental health’, ‘I’ll be able to be toned and feel comfortable in that little black dress’ and ‘I’ll be fitter and have so much energy’. This really helps because thinking the positive thoughts can make you feel a bit happier and therefore you feel much more confident!!
I hope this helps and if you have any more tips or ways to feel confident, be sure to comment! I’d love to hear your thought!
Love Cait x
P.S I felt the picture of my cat Cinderella at the top was extremely appropriate 🙂
I try and take care of my skin, and I will admit it can be really difficult to keep on top of it especially when I use so many products because really who has time for that? If I do use loads and loads of products it can cause my skin to get worse so I don’t use too many anymore. I have to use products made for really, really sensitive skin because my skin can feel like it’s on fire from just about anything, so I use a brand called ‘Botanics’ from Boots!
No.1! – I use face wipes! This removes my make-up and if I haven’t got any make-up on, I’ll use the wipes to make sure my face is clean (you’ll be surprised by how much dirt you can get on your face in one day). I use ‘Simple’ face wipes as they are for sensitive skin and I haven’t reacted at all to them. In one pack there’s 25 wipes and you can purchase them from Boots or your local supermarket.
No.2! – Then I use the ‘3 in 1 Micellar Cleanser’ by Botanics. It says it’s for ‘Dehydrated and sensitive skin’ and I love it! I haven’t reacted to it at all and it feels so nice on my skin. It feels so soothing and hydrating and when my face chooses not to breakout, my skin does look amazing. I use it in the morning too like the rest of the products because my make-up sits so smoothly on it!
No.3! – My next step is to use the ‘Hydrating Day Cream’. It has a little bit of a scent but it isn’t strong or overpowering, if I’m honest it smells really refreshing. I use a small amount on each part of my face; my cheeks, nose, chin, forehead and neck (remember to always include your neck!). This cream does make your skin feel really smooth and gets rid of any dryness. My skin can be really dry and when I apply make-up it can look really cakey and flaky but this helps prevent that, and my make-up can last all day.
No.4! – I love to use an eye-roll because I’ve noticed that this really brightens my eyes and stops my under-eyes looking so purple and I look so much more awake. I love it! I just apply a little bit of the ‘Refreshing Eye Roll-On’ by Botanics. On the back it does say that with use of the product it can increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun. Just make sure that you wear sun screen, if you wear foundation it can contain SPF in it which can be enough, but if not just apply a little bit on suncream on under it.
No.5! – When I have a shower or bath, I use the ‘Purifying Face Scrub’.I use this 2-3 times and week, which is recommended. It says it buffs away impurities to reveal brighter skin. I really love this, I find that it makes my skin really nice and smooth and it looks so much healthier and again my make-up stays on my face really well.
I do love the ‘Botanics’ brand from Boots, however from what I’ve noticed the cleansing bottle doesn’t have lots of product in however, it does last a while maybe a few months, especially if you use it every day. The good thing about the products is that they don’t cost a lot, (I am adamant that I won’t spend loads of money on skin care, because that’s not really affordable and easy to maintain). I hope this helps and maybe you give it a try. Enjoy!

AT THE MOMENT there is an offer on at Boots, there is 1/2 price on selected Botanics! I’m not sure how long the offer last, but you should take a look!!
Makeup Revolution is a UK based, affordable make-up brand. I have purchased quite a few products from them, some products aren’t as great but there are many products that are really worth the small price you have to pay. One of those products is the ‘Awesome Metal Eye-shadows’. I’ve read that they are meant to be a dupe of the Stila ‘Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye-shadows’. I don’t own the Stila eye-shadows, but I can give you my opinion on these ones.
There are 4 different ‘shades’ in the collection- ‘Black Diamond’, ‘Rose Gold’, ‘Pure Platinum’ and ‘Emerald Goddess’. It comes in a small plastic pot with a round metal palette and a liquid eye primer. You take a small amount of the eyeshadow and use the palette to mix the eyeshadow and the liquid primer together. You don’t have to do that, you can apply the eyeshadow on your eye by itself, but there is always the option because it does make it a little brighter.
I have three shades in collection (minus the ‘Emerald Goddess’ shade). I absolutely love these eye-shadows from Makeup Revolution It does take a lot of getting used to as odd as that sounds. I tend to apply it with my finger because I find that this gives the best result then using a brush. However, using my finger can make it difficult to keep the product in one place on my eye because my fingers too big. I find that it can get into my eyebrow and on my nose, which isn’t a very attractive look! It definitely isn’t like applying normal eyeshadow but it does give a really nice look and it can just add a bit of sparkle to the look. I love to use these for a full glam look because they don’t really go with a natural look as it can be too much, but you can always give it a try, maybe just to add some definition to the look.
I would definitely recommend these because of the quality of the product and it doesn’t have a big price tag. It is something that’s worth the try but be aware that it can be very messy when applying and does require a lot of practice but I really like them because they look so gorgeous when applied. I hope this helps and you give it a go. Enjoy!
(I haven’t had time to add swatch pictures but I will add them later today!)
Recently, my nails have grown extremely, extremely long, a length that I haven’t been used to in what must be a year and a half. This means I am constantly painting my nails so many different colours! Bright, dark, summery colours, I’ve even tried nail art once or twice (I intend to write all about my favourite polishes and even include some nail art, so stay tuned!). I’ve been taking much more care of my nails compared to the previous months because they seem so damaged due to the nail polish and all the chemicals. I thought that I would write about my new nail care routine because it has helped my nails so much!
No.1! – I like to use nail polish remover to make sure that any extra nail polish is removed and my cuticle, nail itself and the skin around my nails are clean and free of any bacteria. Even if there isn’t any nail polish left on my nails I still use it to make sure they’re all clean and prepped!
No.2! – Next, I like to use an oil-based product, like olive oil or coconut oil, both works equally well. Personally, I prefer to use coconut oil because it stops my nails from being as dry and weak and it also makes my hands really smooth, an added bonus!
No.3! – I like to use a clear nail polish to protect my nails and make them nice and shiny. Depending on how damaged my nails are, I will either use one or two thin coats of the polish. If I plan on using a coloured nail polish, I will let my nails be ‘free’ to the air for a few days and then paint them. I like to use a polish called ‘Goodbye Yellow’ by Barbara Daly. It’s not heavy or damaging on the nails at all and creates a nice finish. I’ve also used ‘Complete Care Extra Moisturizing 4-in-1 Nail Treatment by Sally Hanson but I wasn’t too keen on it. I felt that it didn’t keep my nails healthy and help them when they were so damaged.
I don’t like to use a lot of products on nails. I want them to be really healthy and free from product that damage them, a reason I like to use coconut oil because it’s very helpful as well as a natural product. (In England, coconut oil can be purchased from Aldi and it’s really inexpensive). I hope this helps and maybe you give it a try. Enjoy!
I’ve always liked the thought of blush and highlighter or even foundations that come in the form of a stick. So today, while in my local Boots, I thought I’d give it a go. I purchased Collection’s version called ‘Speedy Blush’ and ‘Speedy Highlighter’- There is one shade of highlighter called ‘Pearl Sheen’ with three shades of blush ranging from light to dark- ‘Tickled Pink’, ‘Cheeky’ and ‘Pinch Me’. I thought it would be a good chance for me to try them as they retailed for £3.99 and I didn’t want to spend a lot on something that I wasn’t sure I even liked. I managed to get the shade ‘Cheeky’ and the highlighter.
I will say that I love the packaging. I think it’s cute and compact making it so easy to travel with even if it’s just out for the day. It’s also a similar colour to the actual product so you can get a jist of what the blush or highlighter looks like. At the bottom of the stick there’s a twisty bit, like a lipstick which reveals more of the product. At first glance I was concerned about how small the stick was and if there would be enough of the actual makeup but there appears to be a lot of it!
My purchase consisted of the highlighter and the blush called ‘Cheeky’. It’s a coral shade so I thought it would be perfect for my fair skin tone. After swatching the products on my hand I really liked the colour pay-off, for a really inexpensive product it’s really pigmented and so creamy. When applied to the face, it doesn’t feel heavy and is so blend-able on the skin, you just apply a little to the area and rub it into the skin but you can use a makeup brush if you prefer.
The blush and highlighter lasted a good amount of time on my face, however it would definitely need to be reapplied if you want it to last all day but for the price I can’t really complain. I found that this product works better for a natural day look but it can be used for a full glam look but it might need to be a necessity in your clutch bag! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try a stick blush or highlight, the shades they provide might not suit every skin tone but it is worth a try and definitely worth the buy. Enjoy!
